If you are experiencing any of the symptoms described below, you may need help healing from your abortion.

*Guilt, shame, or denial. A sense of feeling alienated from God. Cannot forgive oneself or others involved in the abortion, self punishment self-mutilation, or trying to undo what was done. Repeated sacramental confessions with no sense of peace.

*Relationship problems, abusive relationships, sexual dysfunction, sexual promiscuity. 80-90% of relationships breakdown after an abortion; those that survive often deteriorate or struggle.

*Fear, despair, anxiety. "I did something bad, so God will punish me. Something bad is going to happen to me."

*Anger, rage, hostility towards self and others. Self-mutilation or other self-destructive behavior.

*Depression, emotional numbing, sense of hopelessness. Women who have had abortions can be at greater risk for suicide or attempting   suicide. Feelings of helplessness, worthlessness, emptiness, and low self-esteem are common after an abortion.

*Alcohol or drug abuse, sexual addictions, or work-addiction: keeping busy so as not to feel the pain.

*Grief, regret, isolation. A woman wants to grieve the loss of her child, but often there is a lack of acceptance from family, friends, and society. You may feel isolated and alone, with no one to turn to for support.

*Difficulty parenting. Inability to bond with your other children, neglect or abuse of your children. Being smothering or over-protective of other children for fear of something bad happening to them.

*Sleeping disorders, eating disorders. Physical problems, such as abdominable pain for which there is no cause. Feeling confused.

Women may struggle with these difficulties for years without attributing them to a past abortion. If you are struggling, you are not alone--there is help for you. God wants to give you peace.

At A Haven for Healing we are passionate about helping women recover from the nagging sorrow, guilt, and hurt from their abortions. We believe in the endless mercy of a God who loves His children and wants the best for us no matter how we fail Him.
